About Me
The medium I choose is Embellished Fabric Collage because it transforms pictures into multi-layers of varied colors, textures, and shadings/values. Subjects chosen are varied because each says something different to me, and I won’t get bored in my studio- I’d like my work to be commercial. I began 1999, and when I did a still life, landscape or cityscape, it was because I wanted to make that scene a part of my life. When I chose an interior, it was because it spoke to me as a room of comfort or tranquility. In step two, I’m most inspired by embellishments that enhance the life of the fabrics I’d chosen in step one; fabrics cut to cover my substrate. (Paper or cloth such as canvas, cotton, or linen provide the surface to deposit my carefully laid out fabric snips.) Interest in creating EFCs started when I found myself with leftover scraps of fabric from efforts to sew my own clothes; silk, suede, etc. that was too beautiful and expensive to discard, my being frugal by heritage. My fabrics, unlike a blank canvas, provide a starting point in an initial inspiration. Friends saw my work at art shows, went into their fabric stashes, and offered some to me. I am in my second decade of producing singular Embellished Fabric Collages. Post a CommentOops! The words you entered did not match the given text. Please try again. 0 Comments |
