Steve Jasper was born in Brentwood, California in 1966. He developed a passion for capturing a likeness with his first portrait class he took at age 8. He studied portraiture and figurative art at the Brandes Art Institute and California Art Institute and graduated from the Art Center College of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Illustration in 1989.

Steve likes to work with charcoal, watercolor, acrylic and digital. He has a passion for oil paints which he feels are almost a direct link to the old masters and always a source of inspiration. Currently, he is working on a still life series in the Vanitas tradition which explores mortality and death.
