Dolores Nast
painting

Dolores attended Albright Art School (Albright Knox Art School) from the seventh grade (1946) until graduating in 1951 from Lafayette High School, Buffalo, New York. In high school, she was an Art Major and at graduation, received a one-year scholarship to the Art Institute of Buffalo.

Dolores worked as a civil drafter from 1955 to 1980. She was married to John Nast in 1955 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada; they have three children. In 1980 she quit work to take care of John's parents. While providing this care, she attended UNLV and received an undergraduate degree in Business and Economics, with a major in Quantitative Management Systems. She earned a Master's in Business Administration in 1988. While taking business classes, she attended art classes "for the fun of it" and discovered that she had not lost her touch.

From the spring of 1992 to the spring of 2000, Dolores was an Adjunct teacher in the Community College of Southern Nevada. She taught Civil Drafting, beginning Surveying and Descriptive Geometry classes. After turning 62, she returned to University to attend Art classes. There she met people who encouraged her to submit her work to the Contemporary Arts Collective and other juried art competitions.

Since 1996, she has exhibited her art in juried group exhibits and solo shows throughout the United States, received seven Nevada Jackpot Grants and FY08 Honorable Mention Fellowship from the Nevada Arts Council.
